How to Download Facebook Videos – Save in High Quality

Facebook is growing in huge numbers day by day and this is the reasons there are thousands of Videos being uploaded by the members in their accounts. These videos can be viewed by friends or everyone and also shared with others. The best part is that you can easily upload a video, host it for free & share the same within your friends circle very easily. The only problem with these is that there is no option to download these videos directly, something similar to what Youtube did in its earlier days and we had to find ways to Download Youtube Videos.

When you normally view a Facebook video page which has a URL like this – http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1452273824071 you will find a few options next to the video screenshot.

Next you need to download a Firefox Add-on which is a actually a Facebook Video Greasemonkey Script and install it on your Browser for adding a few extra options to your Facebook video page as shown below.

The different options displayed below the default ‘Report Video’ link are really useful as discussed in detail below.

1. Embed this Video – This option will allow you to Embed the FaceBook videos, in the similar way like you can Embed Youtube Videos on your Blogs. A Extremely useful option for bloggers when they want to post some useful videos which are normally only available in Facebook and not elsewhere.

2. Customize Code – This option will allow you to change the size of the displayed video for embedding and also playing on the same video page. You can easily change the size to the maximum site of your theme’s posting area and post videos.

3. Download Video – This is the option for which you would be reading this article. By default they would be downloaded in .MP4 format. You need to just right click on the specific link and select the ‘Save Link As’ option to download the video directly to your computer at any desired location.

4. Convert Video – This is another useful option because using this you can overide the default .mp4 extention of the videos and use the online file converting service by zamzar. Once you click on that link, it will automatically note the video URL and allow you to save the FaceBook video in any of the following formats like 3gp, 3g2, aac, ac3, avi, flac, flv, gif, iphone, ipod, mov, mp3, mpg, ogg, wav & wmv. The service will ask you to enter your email address where the converted file will be sent.

Other options would include downloading the video from any browser like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari by accessing their Temporary Files Folder or Cache folder and finding the temporary video file and downloading it. But for this option you need to play the video atleast once so that its data is cached and saved to your PC. This is the very reason we would prefer the Greasemonkey script as listed above.
